Bollywood mega star Amitabh Bachchan visited Ajmer Sharif on Monday to untie a sacred thread that he had tied 40 years ago.
The 68-year-old actor paid homage at the dargah this afternoon amidst a huge crowd of about 20,000 people.
Bachchan, who is set to become a grandfather soon, said he decided to make the trip after a long-wished prayer came true.
'On my way to Ajmer Sharif... was there almost 40 years ago... so much has changed since for me... reason enough to thank and pray,' Bachchan earlier Tweeted.
'To fulfill a mannat (wish) made more than 40 years ago... to untie a dhaga that I had tied!' he added.
The Big B entered the dargah from the Solah Khamba gate instead of the main entrance to avoid the crowd but the dargah was already packed with his fans.
He offered a chaddar to the tomb of Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti and walked to Asthana Sharif (nearby tomb) with the basket of chaddar on his head. After paying his homage the actor left for Jaipur.
When questioned by twitter fans whether the mannat was for a grandchild, Bachchan wrote, 'People asking if mannat is for grandchild... NO ! use your sense... 40 years ago I will ask this mannat?? silly... its personal.'
