It’s perhaps one of the best times for Pritish Nandy’s production house Pritish Nandy Communications.
Two films made under the banner of the production house — Raat Gayi Baat Gayi? and Fatso — were screened at the film festival in New York. While Raat Gayi Baat Gayi? participated in the competition section, Fatso had a red carpet screening.
Talking about Raat Gayi Baat Gayi?, Nandy said, “It tells a story, simply, eloquently, with lots of fun and magic. It is what Bollywood films should be about, what they once were.”
For his other film, Fatso, Ranvir Shorey joined the gang of many actors who have pushed their bodies to the hilt by putting on weight because the role demanded it. Ranvir had to gain 15 kilos to fit into the role of a fat, bullied man for the film. But the side effects were disastrous as his blood pressure shot up and he got bouts of acidity and heart burn.
Ranvir said, “The movie is about undying love and the relationship between five friends. I happen to be the fat one.”
