When Shekhar Kapur cried

Film-maker Shekhar Kapur was so emotionally moved on the sets of his television show India’s Got Talent that he broke down into tears in full public view. And if you are wondering what prompted such a reaction from him, After Hrs has news for you.

A source present on the sets of Colors’ TV show reveals: “Shekhar was witness to an inspiring performance from a bunch of extremely endearing handicapped kids aged between 4 to 17 years. Despite their physical challenges this folk troupe performed acrobatic dance in Punjabi style that was so moving that it brought tears to everyone’s eyes.”

The insider adds: “Shekhar too was not an exception. He broke down in front of everyone and cried like a baby. He wished them well and congratulated them for overcoming the odds and putting up an electrifying performance. He was literally struggling to speak after watching them perform.”

Shekhar says, “It is true that I cried on the sets and it will be a very memorable experience. I get so moved if I see passion and beauty and these kids really had a lot of passion despite being handicapped. I couldn’t control myself. I broke down seeing this artful and beautifully different experience.”

He adds “Handicapped people have a sense of purity in them and whenever they do something it’s so pure that it stands out. They face so many problems but they don’t crib nor do they complaint like most of us do despite being far better off than them in life. I was really touched by seeing how genuine they were in their effort. It looked like the power to do something so skilful came to them from God as they did not certainly look to have it in them to pull off such a wonderful stunt.”
