‘We broke up on a good note’

Actor Pooja Ghai talks on being a single parent and juggling her career and motherhood.

‘We broke up on a good note’

Pooja Ghai on parting ways with husband Neeraj Rawal and being a single parent to son Raaj

‘Jeete Hai Jiske Liye’
Talking about her experience of playing Avni in ‘Jeete Hai Jiske Liye’ (Sony) Pooja Ghai says, “The experience is beautiful. I have worked with producers Deeya and Tony Singh in quite a few projects and it has always been comfortable working with them.” She goes on to say, “It is complete madness on the sets. It is absolutely fun. I am close to everybody. I get along well with everyone especially Renuka Shane.”

Marriage and motherhood
For someone who has done it all-modelling, acting, marriage and motherhood Pooja says, “Motherhood has definitely been the most challenging phase for me. I have enjoyed it the most too.”

Pooja speaks about life after parting ways with her husband Neeraj Rawal, “Yes, I am not with my husband any longer. We have parted.” This would mean all the more responsibility towards her son Raaj who is barely six-years-old. “I manage to take out time for Raaj. We read books together, play video games. I also take him out shopping,” says the young mother.

Raaj and me
Ask her how Raaj has taken her break up and she says on a serious note, “He is smart enough and does not crib about it. I have a healthy relationship with my son. Anyway, he is too young now to discuss our parting with.” She goes on to say how she has managed to get through this difficult phase, “I am a mature girl and my decision was mature too. We broke up on a good note and are still good friends.”

“My son loves to see me acting. But he hates to see some other child call me mummy. I had done this commercial where the kid called me ‘Mummy’. Raaj would start hitting the television when he saw that commercial.” However, she doesn’t wish for Raaj to enter the field of acting.

White Leaf
The only thing on her mind other than acting and her son is her production house called White Leaf that she owns along with her partner and actor Vikas Kalantri. “I have a great partner. So he manages it well even though I am not able to take out much time due to my acting schedules,” she says referring to Vikas.

She admits that in spite having done so many characters people still recognise her as Suhasi of ‘Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi’ (Star Plus).
