Manchester United star Wayne Rooney is reportedly learning Bollywood dancing to keep fit. One of the most controversial England stars, he is in the news for his fitness issues when he stopped travelling with the team after a hamstring injury. The star player, according to his manager, is fighting to make a comeback and get back to his old fitness levels.

“The England striker got hooked on the workout, which includes salsa, Bollywood and belly-dancing moves, after taking it up over the summer,” reports an English tabloid.

According to reports, Rooney has hired a private tutor there to teach him the dance moves that he feels is a great workout for the whole body. The footballer is also learning Zumba, the Latin inspired dance form. The exercise was supposedly suggested by his wife Coleen as Wayne was disinterested in yoga, suggested by his fitness instructor.

Meanwhile, a group of reputed Bollywood choreographers have applied for a patent on Bollywood dance form as a form of cardio exercise. “We know that a lot of celebrities in the West, and Hollywood in particular, use our dance form as a form of exercise. It’s time that we take credit for it. We have applied for a patent for Bollywood dance as a new form of cardio, which will then be introduced in various fitness centres as a form of cardio exercise,” said choreographer turned filmmaker Farah Khan.

Farah along with fitness instructor Brinda Mehta will be soon seen training dancers on how to effectively transform Bollywood dancing into a cardio routine.

Most choreographers agree with Farah that Bollywood dancing can be an effective form of exercise. “Bollywood dancing is a great form exercise.  It’s even better than flashmob that is so popular these days. It helps to elevate your mood, keeps you in shape and you also get to hear  great music. What more does one need?” adds choreographer Geeta Kapur.
