Waiting to cook for my team, says Suresh Raina

The best thing that cricketer Suresh Raina can do when he is not playing for Team India is to cook a mean baigan ka bharta, but the cricketer says that his best dish might be a tossup between dal chawal.

The feisty cricketer says that he “was forced” to pick up his cooking skills while staying at the hostel of Sports College in Lucknow where he studied for almost nine years.

“It is an acquired skill and I have learnt to perfect them. At the same time, if anybody can get a better ‘delivery’ than me at dal chawal, then it would definitely be my mom. But when my friends come to over to my place, I like to surprise them with my cooking skills. I am waiting to cook for my Team India colleagues specially Rohit, Yuvraj and Irrfan, but I am not too sure whether they will end up liking the dish…perhaps I would ask my mom to stand in for me,” says Raina with a chuckle.

The 22-year-old admits that there are times when his mom tosses a googly once in a while about him getting married but this lad decides to duck the ball. “She sometimes says that ‘mere sanu ab kya hoga’ which is obviously a hint to the question ‘when are you getting married?’ but to be honest I feel that this is not the time to get into any serious relationship forget about getting married. I just keep quiet and let it pass. I guess getting into a relationship at this stage of my career will take my mind off from the game. It’s not an option for me at the moment,” the cricketer adds.

The cricketer says that he is a gadget freak and the latest that he has acquired is a set of Harnon Kardon speakers for his music system. “I am always listening to music and I am big fan of hip hop music. I like Bollywood numbers too but there are too few of them,” he signs off.
