Waiting to be swept off her feet, Divya Dutta

After spending 10 years in Bollywood, Divya Dutta admits that ‘fringe roles’ doesn’t matter to her if she knows that the opportunity might help her put her acting talent skills out in the open.

“I can give you a long list of the films that I am working in. I think
that has happened because I have never really cared for the length of the role or the number of roles that other actresses are getting vis-a-vis me. I am content with the fact that I am getting roles that is good enough to tell the world that I am a good actor. Don’t you think so?” asks Divya Dutta with her typical grin.

But is it true that she has got more fame in Punjabi cinema than what she could achieve in Hindi cinema in all these 10 years? “I know that I have got some fame in Punjab and I am proud of the fact. That is why you see me doing Punjabi films and that is again why I teamed up with Gurdas Mannsaab for Sukhmani. But know what? This might be a Punbjabi film but I am not speaking Punjabi at all for this film! I am speaking Kashmiri! That is  because Gurdas Mann meets me in Kashmir while he is on an army assignment,” she says while revealing a part of the film’s plot.

We veer towards her personal life and in spite of so many rumours, she still chooses to remain single. “Aah! I was expecting this question. I still choose to remain single because I haven’t got anybody with whom I would want to spend my life with. The rumours about me are part and parcel of the film industry and I am sure that I don’t need to clarify each one of them. But yes, I will surely get married the moment I find a man who can sweep me off my feet. Till then, I am still waiting for my man to come along,” she ends.
