Vivek Oberoi is a complete tech-freak person

Actor Vivek Oberoi, who spent a major chunk of the first half of this year travelling across the country and outside it, to see almost all of the Cricket World Cup matches live is now back to focusing his attention on films. But all work and no play is not Oberoi's cuppa and a source close to the actor says that he likes to unwind with his all-time favourite indulgence — gadgets!

The source says that Vivek is a complete tech-freak and that he gets that quality from his dad, Suresh Oberoi. "Vivek loves his toys. But now it's risen to another level. Both father and son often spend a lot of time researching latest gadgets and their uses. And now it's turned into a challenge of sorts in between them. Vivek and Suresh want to beat each other to either owning the best gadget or updating it first," says the source.

"Vivek is glued to his laptop for most part of the day. And he likes to keep himself updated on related software too. In fact, his laptop and his Mp3 player are equipped with the latest support systems and accessories. Vivek may not use the accessories very often, but the times that he does, he likes his gadget to be perfect. It's like an OCD with him, when it comes to technology," adds the source.

The actor, who is the anti-tobacco spokesperson for the World Health Organisation, spends a chunk of his times watching movies on his laptop. "It has the best speakers in town and the movie watching experience is doubled when you watch it on his laptop," says the source.

Though Vivek likes the best in technology, the source adds that he is also very particular about conserving energy. "Vivek likes to do his bit. He advocates green technology, for starters. He also uses a solar monkey charger in his car as opposed to the regular ones which are total energy hogs!" reveals the source.

The source says that Vivek apart from spreading awareness about the ill-effects of smoking also believes in actively championing for the cause of energy saving and using products that help aid the cause.
