Vishal Dadlani defends AR Rahman

Vishal Dadlani is well known in the music world  as a composer and also as the front man of the rock band Pentagram. When one music director eagerly waits to meet another music director, it’s not only heart warming but also shows that talent and creativity are held in high esteem.

Vishal Dadlani is defending Oscar winner AR Rahman against all the negative comments for the latter’s composition Jiyo Utho Bado Jeeto, which is the official song for the upcoming Commonwealth Games in the Capital. “The only infallible one is God, who sends music to us all. Everyone else is human, including Rahman.

We’re all allowed off days. Be nice. All you doubters, and haters, please understand that Rahman has done more for music and India’s international image than almost anyone else,” Dadlani of the music director duo Vishal-Shekhar posted on Twitter.

Dadlani is over the moon as he recently met Rahman on the sets of Zee TV’s Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Singing Superstars. While Dadlani is one of the judges on the show, Rahman will be a special guest on one of the upcoming episodes.

After meeting him, Vishal said, “Each decade in the Indian Music industry has an identity — the melodious 60s, the swinging 70s, disco of the 80s and the 90s was a one man show — AR Rahman who pioneered a distinct phase in Indian film music combining Western influences with Indian sounds, ranging from classical instruments to folk music.”

Daler Mehendi and Vishal Shekhar even requested Rahman to give them his autograph on the sets of the show. But when Vishal asked Rahman to sing Vande Mataram, the music director who is known for his humble demeanor said, “I will not be able to do justice to our National song today because it needs to be sung in a high pitch, and it will be difficult for me to summon that amount of energy on an empty stomach. It’s the holy month of Ramzaan and I am fasting.”

However, he obliged by singing a couplet from his latest film.
