Vidya Balan’s 'lavani' moves give her a tough time

The actress apparently had to practise hard to get the sensuous moves for her lavani dance number right.

Vidya Balan’s 'lavani' moves give her a tough time

It is a known fact that actor Vidya Balan likes to experiment with her roles. She didn't shy away from donning the look of an actor from a few decades before, or that of a pregnant woman for the big screen. And now, she's seen gyrating to a Marathi folk song in the promos of Ferrari Ki Sawari.

But a little birdie tells us that while Vidya had a ball of a time dancing to the lavani tunes, it was a lot of hard work for her to get the steps right. "Vidya has put in a lot of effort to get her act right. But she had to go the extra mile to sport an authentic look for the lavani number, Mala jau dya na ghari. She rehearsed the steps at least 20 days before going for the actual take. She's wearing a red Maharashtrian sari and is sitting on top of the dhols, doing the lavani," says a unit hand.

The eye witness adds that Vidya was nervous about how the song will shape up but she practised hard to get the moves right.

"She would reach the sets way before the choreographer and rehearse some more to get the right latkas and jhatkas. One the last day of the shoot, she got huge tins of ladoos to distribute to the entire unit. The entire team missed seeing Vidya practise her dance moves on the sets once the shoot was over," says the source.

A friend close to Vidya also reveals that before this lavani song, Vidya actually believed that she was not a good dancer and didn't think she would get an offer to do an item number ever.

"But she enjoyed the lavani experience so much that Vidya now claims that she looks forward to shaking her leg and letting her hair down all the time," says the friend. Well, Vidya, your fans are definitely enjoying your moves for now.
