Vidya Balan's razor-sharp memory

Most B-town actors take pride in flaunting the fact that they meet so many people in a day that it is difficult for them to remember all of them. In fact, it is one of the most common excuse our leading ladies and heroes give each time they are greeted with a smiling face only to realise that they don’t know who the person actually is!

But actress Vidya Balan, say sources, is quite the opposite. A source close to Vidya warns that the actor has a very sharp memory and often ends up surprising the opposite person when she starts talking about the last time they met.

“Vidya is a keen observer and somehow, once she meets a person and spends some time with them, she remembers them for a long time to come. If they bond a little beyond work hours, Vidya will even remember their personal details like their birthdays and anniversaries! It’s strange and her friends often quiz her to find out if she has some memory trick, but even Vidya doesn’t have the answer to how her memory functions,” says the source.

Another source, who knows Vidya for quite a few years now says that though Vidya is very happy that she doesn’t have to make an effort to remember little things about the people she interacts with, there are times when she is fed up of having constantly remembering too much! “At times she feels that her memory is clogged with information she has no use for. But she’s realised that it is better than having a bad memory, so Balan now prefers to look at the bright side of it,” smiles the source.

“Once, she took a spot boy aback by calling out for him by his name. She had worked with that boy a year back, during the shooting of another film. He was the one who would bring Vidya her tea and refreshments, so Vidya remembered him very well. But he was on cloud nine all day when Vidya called him by his name,” says the source.
