Vidya Balan learns to like cooking

Actress Vidya Balan is known for her Indian style of dressing and her take-me-home-to-meet-mamma kind of looks has won her many brownie points with her male fans too.

But there is one aspect to Vidya that most are still unaware of.

The actress is not too fond of stepping into the kitchen!

“That’s true. Vidya is a very homely person, but she just can’t cook! To top it all, she’s a foodie -— so it’s like a contradiction of sorts,” says the source.

But now things seem to be changing for the better for Vidya and it all began when she met up world-renowned chef Matt Preston, during a trip to Australia a few months back.

“Matt loves Indian cuisine and is very aware of Indian food. And since Vidya is a foodie too, they soon got started talking about food. That’s when Matt learnt that Vidya has no interest in cooking. He then urged her to try her hand in the kitchen and insisted that she might even like it,” says the source.

Vidya apparently took Matt’s advice seriously and implemented some easy-to-cook tips that he had given her in Australia.

“We can’t say that she’s an expert cook now, but she’s definitely not averse to cooking now,” says the source. In fact, Vidya even met Matt again during his recent trip to the city.

“Matt was leaving for Australia on Thursday night. But both of them were keen on catching up so they met up, barely a hours before Matt was leaving. The first thing Matt asked her was if she remembered any of the tips he had given her and to his surprise she did. He was impressed to say the least and this time he gave her simple recipes for her to try out,” says the source.

Vidya was apparently very happy that they finally met, because the actor’s hectic schedules were delaying it constantly. In fact, the source says that the duo almost didn’t meet even on Thursday because Vidya got held up at a shoot at the last minute.

“But their meeting was meant to be and they spoke like long lost friends. Vidya even told Matt about some more Indian delicacies that he must try out the next time he visits,” adds the source.

But for now, Vidya has every intention of trying each and every recipe that Matt gave her soon.
