Vashu Bhagnani’s buzzword for 'F.A.L.T.U.': Young 'mantra'

Producer Vashu Bhagnani — who is best known for hits like Biwi No 1, Coolie No 1, Mujhe Kuch Kehna Hai, among many others — is pretty elated these days. Not only is his film F.A.L.T.U. ready to hit the big screen on April 1, what’s all the more special is that the fun flick also stars son Jackky, apart from Arshad Warsi and Riteish Deshmukh. “It’s a young film, about the youth, for the youth,” says Bhagnani about the film that marks several debuts too including that of actors Puja Gupta and Angad Bedi and choreographer-turned-director Remo D’Souza.

“Remo has his finger on the pulse of the youth and he’s done a good job of giving it a young feel,” says the film-maker. He’s also all praises for the music director duo Sachin-Jigar whose song Party Abhi Baaki Hai has almost become a youth anthem. “Even the cricket crowds were chanting the song during the world cup and we even got smses that went ‘Aussies ghar gaye, lekin Pakistanis abhi baaki hai’,” smiles a thrilled Bhagnani.

Point out that though his film has no A-list star to boast of, the film is creating a very strong buzz already and he explains that much of it as to do with the marketing of the film. “Promotions play a major role in the success of a film. Just like it’s important to select the right script, it’s important to promote it well,” says the producer, who is well-known for his unique marketing strategies. He had earlier launched a film’s music in mid-air and for another film had distributed thousands of meter covers and tyre covers for autos and taxis. This time around too he’s leaving no stone unturned.

From putting up stickers to launching the music of the film digitally, the production house has also introduced film merchandise. “It’s a young bunch we are working with here and keeping the target audience in mind, we have tried to reach out to them in the best way possible,” he says. “We opened the Bryan Adams show in Hyderabad and even did a stage show with our entire star cast in Indore, which was a huge hit,” adds Vashu. The production house also happens to be the first to have launched music online.
