Twinkle’s second baby!

Twinkle’s second baby!

Contrary to speculations, Twinkle Khanna and hubby Akshay Kumar are not planning a second child. Not anytime soon at least, as the former confirms, "Definitely not right now. I’m happy with the way things are."

But, in the first week of October, the not-so-successful actor turned popular interior designer celebrates another milestone. She is launching the second branch of her home store White Window in the city’s shopping hub -- Bandra.

"It’s an extravagant boutique store. We’re introducing crockery and a lot more products from places like Spain. It’s going to be a great gift shop, especially since the packaging will also be excellent," discloses an excited Twinkle from London. She is currently working on an international project.

"This is the first home I’m designing abroad and it is so huge, but I will be back in Mumbai for the store opening," she reveals.

For those wondering how the 31-year-old mum manages such a hectic work schedule, she explains, "My son has been accompanying me to sites ever since he was three months old. Or he’s on Akshay’s sets. I’m lucky I have a great support system in my mother and sister-in-law too," she says, adding, "watching us work, Aarav’s learning early that there is no easy ride in life!"

Winning this year’s Elle Décor International Design Award for best wall furnishes and coverings has reaffirmed her faith in the decision to make the career switch. "As an actor, I used to criticise myself a lot. Now, I actually have a scrapbook of my interior design work, which I showoff all the time. The award is a pat on my back reassuring me that I did the right thing," she says proudly.

For now, she is focused on the new branch which she asserts caters to all income groups, not just the elite as commonly perceived. "You can get something for as cheap as Rs 100 at my store. Plus, for Rs 3,000 (redeemable against store purchases), we go over to the buyer’s home and help with the design layout."

So does she ever miss the limelight? And, more importantly, is there a possibility of her acting again? "Never ever!" she screams. "I may do something with regard to interior design on TV, but films - NEVER!"
