Tweet me not: Sanjay Dutt

Actor Sanjay Dutt’s debut on TV may not have been ‘the debut of the year’, but the actor confesses that it surely is as important as picking up the right films. “I have decided on one thing and that is — I will not do buffoon-kind-of-films from now on. I will only do films whose scripts intrigue me. I won’t do films just for the heck of it anymore.  I have done enough of that,” says the actor talking about his criteria for choosing films henceforth. The actor however, is quick to add that he’s not against comedies. “In fact, the last three years was a phase that saw comedies rule. Now action is back, and so I’m in my action avatar. Bollywood follows trends and as actors we cannot do much about it, if people want comedies, we will do more comedies,” he adds.

The actor is among the few stars who even after three decades in the industry continues to get plum roles. “I have no qualms about my career graph. I am very happy the way it has been shaping up.” As for him not being active on any social networking site, he explains, “I do not feel the need to be active on social networking sites or create random controversies to be in news. It’s not me! I am a very reserved person. I love to be with my friends and family and do my work. But this doesn’t mean I’m not a fun person. You can ask Salman (Khan), he will tell you how much fun we have. For thirty years I didn’t need any Twitter account to get me work or become famous, right? So I’m ok without it even today. Besides I’m not very tech-savvy. I just use my phone and e-mails. It’s more than enough for me.”

Ask if production is on his mind and he quickly adds, “TV production? I haven’t thought about it. But before getting into it I first want to make good films.” What about hosting shows? “Had it not been for my brother Salman, I wouldn’t have ventured into TV anytime soon! But I’m glad that he did push me into it as I love the medium. It’s as big as films and instant reactions from audience help you better your skills. I do not mind hosting shows but I will be glad to be associated with shows in which I could do something for the people and if I can help them in any sorts. My dad showed us this path and I will want to continue walking on it.”
