Tulip Joshi is back in action

It may be long since we saw actor Tulip Joshi do a Bollywood film but the actor insists that she’s been busy all this time.

“I did a Kannada film, Super. And it’s doing very well down South. So much so that the makers are now considering dubbing it in all South Indian languages because of the response it received,” says Joshi.

She’s also just back in the city from Chandigardh after completing a shooting schedule for a Punjabi film with Harbhajan Mann.

“It’s freezing there! But I always loved Chandigardh, so no complaints,” says Joshi, who enjoyed indulging in winter fashion during her stay there.

But Joshi is most excited about her new movie, a Manish Gupta film, which deals with ragging.

“The film talks about life in a hostel, and a boy’s hostel in particular. Vatsal Seth plays the protagonist and my character is there for relief. I’m his love interest and help him morally. My character is there for him in his tough times,” she explains.

The film is inspired by the real life incident of Aman Khachroo who was a victim of ragging. The incident made headlines and gripped the nation at the time.

Ask Joshi if she was ever the victim of ragging and she replies in the negative. “Thank God! I’ve never been ragged and neither did I ever indulge in ragging others. I was a very good and obedient student,” she laughs, adding that she learnt a lot about the psychology of ragging during the making of her new film.

Tell Joshi that over the years she’s been associated with doing more of serious cinema and she agrees. “In Bollywood I get a lot of offers for serious roles only. At times I take it as a compliment but at times the ‘image’ does go against me,” she ends.
