Harsh Goenka has always hoped that his daughter Vasundhara would continue painting, since it’s a hobby she has pursued since childhood. And now Vasundhara Patni has fulfilled that wish. In Harsh’s upcoming exhibition ‘A-maz-ing’, his daughter will display digitally adapted photographs. What’s more, even Vasundhara’s first cousin Avarna Goenka — who is the daughter of Harsh’s brother, Sanjiv, will be displaying her digital art in this exhibition.

With the works of more than twenty well known artists like Baiju Parthan, Anjolie Ela Menon, TV Santosh and Jehangir Jani on display, even Harsh admits that the sharp contrast that Vasundhara and Avarna’s debut will provide. “Both my daughters may not qualify to find a space solely on merit in this exhibition, but there are always biases. I must admit that I am very excited as my daughters will be part of my exhibition. It is a great thing for me” gushes Harsh.

This exhibition will run in Jehangir Art Gallery from February 9 to 17. ‘A-maz-ing’ is a show that is inspired by a maze and spells out expressions like ‘awe’, ‘surprise’ and ‘fantasy’. “As kids when we played in a maze, there were times when we had almost discovered the solution to the problem but suddenly had to retract,” says Harsh. “This exhibition is inspired by that very concept. It is a very contemporary and cutting edge exhibitions where in all the modern art right from photographs to instillations to digitally created art have been displayed. It’s all about the modern and the future facets of art.”

After over a year’s efforts the Jehangir Art Gallery has been transformed into a space that revolves around the theme of this exhibition. One room is completely dark, a maze has been constructed in the gallery, there are wells, sculptures, paintings, instillations that aim to evoke emotions of awe, surprise and fantasy. Says Harsh, “Each artist created their space in the gallery and that is quite exciting. Enthusiasm among them is also high because the entire collections from the sale of the pieces will go to the artists.”
