This is going to be my year: Newcomer Shaurya Chauhaan

Patience pays off and actress Shaurya Chauhaan couldn’t have agreed more. She’s got quite a handful this year, starting off with director Muazzam Beg’s Sadda Adda. And the young lady isn’t complaining.

“It’s quite a one of its kind role where I play a drag racer,” informs Shaurya, adding, “And I chose to go without a body double for all the stunt sequences. There’s no greater thrill than doing all the action myself.” Playing a thoroughly spoilt Delhi brat wasn’t easy for Shaurya though. “But that’s where the challenge lies — being someone so different from what I am,” she explains.

Apart from that, Shaurya also has Sabke Bajegi Band in which she plays a supermodel. “The content is raw and I can easily say it will be one of the most controversial films of the year. It revolves around the fashion industry and I play a supermodel,” she states.

In Good Buddy Garbari, a comedy based in Goa, Shaurya plays an ex-model married to a photographer. But the icing would most definitely be a plum role in one of the most anticipated sequels, Krrish 3. “I have always been a fan of Rakesh Roshan films and never in my wildest dream had I pictured myself being directed by him,” says the actor. While they have completed shooting for the first schedule, Shaurya is getting extensively trained for her negative role in the film. “The role demands some heavy duty action and the makers were on the lookout for someone who fitted the bill. Considering I have been a gymnast for years, fitness comes easy to me,” she says, adding, “Undoubtedly this is one of the best roles I can hope for.” Of course, there are multiple advantages of being part of a hit franchise as well. “It’s a huge platform for a newcomer like me. And sharing screen with the likes of Hrithik Roshan and Vivek Oberoi is such an honour. I want to make the most of this opportunity,” exclaims Shaurya.

And all this came at a time when she was going through a rough patch personally. “My father was unwell but this news cheered him up too. This is going to be my year,” she signs off.
