The daring 'dulhan'

From bagging medals in rifle shooting to playing bride in ‘Banoo Mein Teri Dulhann’ it’s just another win for Divyanka Tripathi

Hailing from Bhopal, Divyanka Tripathi has stolen hearts as Vidya in ‘Banoo Mein Teri Dulhann’ (Zee). For someone who wanted to be an army officer and had won medals in rifle shooting, acting was definitely an out-of-the-box career. Incidentally, Divyanka bagged the lead role in ‘Banoo…’ after wining the Zee Cine Star contest. The actor talks about playing Vidya and being Divyanka.

Positive feedback
“I am learning something new everyday. It’s a new life playing Vidya. Many women come up to me and say that they see themselves in Vidya. When people relate to your character, it is a big achievement.”

Trio team
“My co-star Sharad Malhotra (Sagar) is a very good friend. I’ve known him since the last two years. We keep fighting all the time. We have lots of fun together on the sets. I am closest to Sharad and Manish Naggdev (Cheenu). We, as a trio, rock on the sets.”

Knowing Divyanka
“In real life, I am as caring, patient and emotional as Vidya. But I don’t cry like her. I’m very adventurous and can bear a lot of physical and mental pain. But if I were to be in a situation like Vidya’s, I would stand up for myself and not stay quiet.”

Conservative chic
“I didn’t have to adjust much here. While in Bhopal I used to wear salwar kameez. Here too, I do the same. As far as the party culture is concerned, I don’t drink or smoke but I enjoy dancing.”

Tomorrow…
“I get many emails and messages from fans who propose marriage to me. They think that I am just like Vidya. Professionally, I am open to commercials. At present I have no time for other shows. If time permits, I am looking forward to doing more shows and also films.”
