Teetotaler Daniel Radcliffe prefers spending time at home than parties

Daniel Radcliffe has revealed that he has gone teetotal to beat his taste of alcohol, which was becoming an addiction to him, thanks to all the parties.

The pressure of stardom made the Harry Potter wizard so reliant on alcohol for a time that he has now decided to spend his evenings at home with his girlfriend rather than at parties.

Radcliffe said he became dependent on alcohol just to enjoy his adulthood following his 18th birthday party.

“I became so reliant on [alcohol] to enjoy stuff. There were a few years there when I was just so enamoured with the idea of living some sort of famous person’s lifestyle that really isn’t suited to me,” The Age quoted him as telling GQ magazine.

He said that he was fortunate to escape paparazzi, who could well have captured his drunken state.

“I really got away with that because there were many instances when a shot like that could have been taken,” he said.

However, since last August Radcliffe has not touched a drop of alcohol.

“I’m actually enjoying the fact I can have a relationship with my girlfriend where I’m really pleasant...,” he said of his new lifestyle.

“As much as I would love to be a person that goes to parties and has a couple of drinks and has a nice time, that doesn’t work for me. I do that very unsuccessfully. I’d just rather sit at home and read, or talk to somebody that makes me laugh,” he added.
