Tamil filmmaker Gautham Menon is looking forward to Bollywood

Filmmaker Gautham Menon, who had previously directed Rehna Hai Tere Dil Mein, Minnale’s remake for Bollywood, is as excited as a newcomer about directing a Hindi film again. “Bollywood is a different ballgame. I am quite used to Tamil and Telugu films. But there is this excitement when I think of my second Hindi film, which will be a remake of Vinnaithandi Varuvaaya. I am looking forward to Bollywood again,” says Menon, who believes he has a very competent cast.

“Prateik (Babbar) is a talented actor. He is passionate about what he does and he suits the role just fine. As for Amy, I think she was marvellous in her debut film Madarasapattinam,” says Menon.
While this will be the first time Menon is working with this cast, he has retained the original technical team. “I am very comfortable with my technical team. I’ve been working with them for so many years and I see no reason why I should replace them just because I’m doing a Hindi film,” he says.

Coincidentally, this implies that music composer AR Rahman returns to be a part of this film too. “Rahman’s tunes for Vinnaithandi Varuvaaya are still a rage amongst youngsters. I don’t think anyone else can create a soundtrack that will catch the audiences’ fancy like the way he does. And music is an integral part of this story,” says Menon, who is all set to kickstart his brisk schedule this summer.
