After delivering a massive hit last year, the makers of Vishnuvardhana are back with Charulatha. While Vishnuvardhana was an out and out commercial pot boiler, Charulatha is a
suspense thriller.

Priyamani, who featured in a prominent role in Vishnuvardhana will be seen playing the lead in this film. Cast opposite her is newbie, Skanda. The lead pair started shooting for the film on the auspicious occasion of Ugadi. Apart from Priyamani, the film has roped in yet another performer. We are talking about reputed Tamil music director Sundar C Babu who is making an entry into the Kannada industry through this film. “It is his background score in Nadodigal and several other films that motivated the Charulatha team to approach him,” says Sundar, who also happens to be the son of late Chitti Babu, the legendary Veena artiste. “Music is what adds value to this plot. The film has two songs, but background score is what is pivotal to the script. And having heard background scores from my earlier films including the recently released Porali, producer Yogish and director P Kumar were keen on me composing the music. The story also impressed me,” adds Sundar.

And what is the story? “All, I’ll say is that Priyamani’s is a very performance oriented role. The plot is very realistic and is something that common people can relate to,” says Yogish not wanting to reveal too much. But we find out that the film is inspired by Alone, a foreign film that is centred around two sisters. “It will be an adaptation of an international film, but I will reveal the name of that film only during its release,” says Yogish, refusing to confirm the news.
