Steven Spielberg’s 'Schindler’s List' the saddest film of all time: Poll

Steven Spielberg’s Holocaust epic Schindler’s List has beat tearjerkers such as Love Story, Terms of Endearment and Titanic to be the saddest film of all time.

The 1993 film, starring Liam Neeson as German businessman Oskar Schindler, won seven Oscars, including Best Director for Spielberg.

It tells the tale of how Schindler saved hundreds of his Jewish workers from being sent to their deaths at Auschwitz.

More than 20% of moviegoers who took part in a poll by Entertainment Weekly magazine to name cinema’s weepiest production singled it out.

The 1957 Disney film Old Yeller was second, while Terms of Endearment, with Jack Nicholson and Shirley MacLaine, came third with 14% of the vote.

Brokeback Mountain came fourth while another film set around the Holocaust, Life is Beautiful, came fifth.
