Stars are now vying for TV ratings!

Debuting on TV is a big deal these days for the Bollywood brigade. On one hand where TV stars want to try their hand in films, Bollywood town is queuing up to entice the audience with their hosting/judging skills on small screen. Reality shows want to garner more eyeballs and what better than getting the Bollywood stars on them.

The latest one to join the bandwagon is actor Hrithik Roshan, with Just Dance. And as per the TAM data, the simulcast of Hrithik’s dance reality show’s opening episode on Star Plus, Star Pravah and Star One garnered a 4.7 TRP.

Yes, the star like his exceptional Bollywood debut has been lucky enough to have a good opening on small screen. The other stars who starred on the small screen this year were not as lucky as Hrithik. Earlier this year the actor’s close buddy, actor Preity Zinta, too made her foray on TV as the host of Guinness World Records Ab India Todega on Colors. But her dimpled charm did not work as much on TV audiences as the opening episode TRP was 3.3. But more shocking was when actor Akshay Kumar’s Khatron Ke Khiladi Season 4 on the same channel opened to the TRP of 3, which is even  lesser than Preity’s.

In fact, the opening episode that actor Priyanka Chopra had hosted for the last season of  KKK had a far better rating. The other shows like X Factor and Entertainment Ke Liye Kuch Bhi Karega on Sony had TRPs of 2.1 and 2.7 respectively.

But the topmost so far continue to be Salman Khan (Bigg Boss 4 opened to a TRP of 4.8) and Madhuri Dixit Nene, whose Jhalak Dikhla Jaa opened to a TRP of 5. Now, all eyes are glued on actor Amitabh Bachchan, who’s expected to  surpass all the younger stars, as he has done earlier, with his latest show Kaun Banega Crorepati 5. Keep watching this space for more.
