South 'simbly' lucky with Salman Khan

If there’s anyone who can’t seem to get enough of the current trend of remaking South films, it’s actor Salman Khan. Hardly surprising, considering the fact that so far almost all have proven to be rather lucky for the star at the Box office. Right from the superhit Tere Naam that was a remake of Sethu to more recently Wanted (a remake of Pokiri) and now his latest Anees Bazmee directed flick. Interestingly, Salman’s next two films — Bodyguard and Kick — also happen to be remakes of South hits. Though the two are yet to release, there’s already buzz of him being keen on yet another remake of another South flick, Mirapakai.

Salman Khan, however, says that him doing three back-to-back films that are all remakes of South films is sheer coincidence. “It’s not a consciously planned strategy to only do remakes of South films. It’s just been sheer co-incidence,” he says. But what Salman doesn’t deny is that he’s been rather impressed by the films down there. “They have not let heroism go away and hence the masses go to the films in large numbers even today,” adds Salman Khan.

As for Bollywood, the actor feels that the ‘heroes’ were being missed big time’. “In fact, I agreed to act in Wanted because around that time, I really was fed up of watching the so called niche films or romcoms and wanted to go to a theatre and see a ‘hero’ film,” reveals Salman. Perhaps it was this attraction to see herogiri back on the big screen that drew the crowds to the theatres or the remakes favouring Salman’s luck, in any case, seems like the ‘hero’ has found his own key to hitting jackpot at the Box office and the audiences certainly not complaining.
