Sonam Kapoor's weight issues!

Actress Sonam Kapoor’s known to be quite open about her weight issues that she faced as a teenager. And though her stunning slim avatar has no resemblance to her ‘plump’ past, the fashionista will be again stepping into a familiar territory for a film — she’ll be putting on weight for a film opposite South singer/actor Dhanush.

Dhanush will be making his  Bollywood debut with Sonam in Raanjhnaa, which will directed by Anand L Rai of Tanu Weds Manu fame.  Says a source, “Yes, Anand wants Sonam  to put on weight to fit into the character perfectly. But with her past they weren’t sure that she’d  agree to it. Sonam surprised them with her reaction, she saw it as a challenge and agreed to put on weight for the film.”

The actor had previously said that if it was not for filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali, then she would have continued to neglect her health. It was the director, who asked her to lose the extra flab for Saawariya, which she had put on during her days in boarding school in Singapore. And since she never planned on a career in the film industry, she neglected her diet and put on a lot of weight there.

She had earlier said, “I have been a fat girl all my life. I never got to dress up the way I do now as an 18-19 year-old. I’m like what 26 now, and have been able to dress the way I want only in the past five to six years. I have worked hard to have a healthy body. I’m still not skinny as others, and I wish I was.” When it was pointed that curves had replaced the size zero trend, the actor said, “Curves are in, but for only a few actors. I’m too tall. The taller you are, the bigger you become and you start looking really huge.”

Having said that, it looks like the actor is putting up a brave front, by putting on weight to get into the skin of her character.
