Sonam Kapoor is a dear friend, says Asin

Actress Asin Thottumkal, who was in the news recently for her rumoured link-up with actor Neil Nitin Mukesh maintains a clear stand when asked about their equation. “I am friends with most actors and there is no negativity towards anyone from my end,” she says.

While she has always been vocal about her friendship with actor Salman Khan, not many know that Asin is also friends with most heroines in B-Town. Asin insists that contrary to reports, heroines can be friends. “Most of the girls around are really talented and are doing a great job.  We are in touch and meet up whenever we can. But considering that our jobs are such that we need to travel a lot, we are always catching up with each other over phone. In fact, we are all hooked onto our messengers and often end up chatting,” Asin confesses.

There were reports that recently suggested that Asin and actor Sonam Kapoor were the new best friends in town. Admitting to being close to Sonam, she says, “I find Sonam to be really genuine and sincere. I always believe that when a person’s smile reaches the eyes, he/she is sweet and spread warmth wherever they go. The same holds true for Sonam as well.”
Is Sonam the only one in the industry she gets along well with?

“Deepika (Padukone) and I speak on and off, but we haven’t been able to catch up of late. We did a show together and people couldn’t believe that we bonded so well because there is always so much animosity between two heroines. I have interacted with Sonakshi (Sinha) as well. She is talented and sweet, but we haven’t had the time to really sit and talk.” Asin is also friends with actor Shruti Haasan with whom she invariably ends up talking about cupcakes among other things.

Does it mean that the new generation of heroines are a secure lot? “I am a very secure person,” says Asin adding, “One feels threatened only when one is not confident of oneself. None of us have any reason to be insecure and hence are able to bond better and remain friends off the sets as well.”
