Soha Ali Khan’s going the Aamir Khan way

Actress Soha Ali Khan is surely going the Aamir Khan way. The actor is going through the ropes of method acting to play the friend of a deaf and dumb girl for a film which revolves around the life of a deejay who lost his hearing after standing for hours near high-watt loudspeakers.

Soha is playing the lead in the official remake of the Canadian film, It’s All Gone Pete Tong where she helps the deejay get back on his feet. The deejay’s role is being essayed by Rajeev Khandelwal.

In method acting, the actress slips into the character for months (sometimes years) to get into the skin of the character. The actor tries to virtually become the character in the process, something that actor Aamir Khan is famous in Bollywood for. The film is based on a true story on the life of Czech DJ Kristov Masalin who lost his hearing because he had the habit of standing right next to huge sound boxes when he used to play in the clubs. The mind-numbing sound levels ultimately affected his ear drums.

“Kristov’s career as a deejay didn’t end with the accident. He kept on improvising with new methods to play music. So even though he couldn’t hear what he was playing, he continued to spin the disc a way nobody else could,” says a source.

Obviously, the role requires method acting and Soha is leaving no stone unturned to play the character like real. She has already seen the original film at least five times according to sources.

“I am playing a completely deaf girl in the film. I started shooting for the film and it’s a completely new experience for me. I can’t imagine myself in a world where I can’t hear anything. I converse so much with people in real life and to be put in a situation like this was a challenge for me,” says Soha adding that she literally lives the character for at least a few hours every day.
