'Singham'- Rohit Shetty's golmaal action

Hit-maker Rohit Shetty is in love with something else apart from comedy — a hard core action flick!

'Singham'- Rohit Shetty's golmaal action

He’s the film-maker with a Midas touch and has been raining hits on the industry.

In fact, Rohit Shetty has created a very successful franchise of Golmaal, but now he’s got an ace up his sleeve with his first action flick, Singham.

“I have received a lot of love with the four Golmaal films and it has been a dream run. In fact, not many people can boast of a hit franchise like this, but I didn’t want to take my audience for granted. I wanted to give them something different,” he states.

While Rohit continues his professional association with good friend, Ajay Devgn, he has cast Telugu actor Kajal Aggarwal for the first time in a Hindi film.

“The USP of Singham is the strong characters. The movie moves from the village to a city, hence I needed a girl to look and act as simply as possible and not a glamour queen. I had seen Kajal’s performance in Magadheera and wanted to try her out,” he informs.

Quiz Rohit if Ajay will always be a common fixture in his films and he says, “Apart from him being a talented actor, we are also good friends and share a comfort level that makes work easy. In fact, we never discuss the script on the sets leave alone have differences of opinion, that’s how certain we are about what’s happening.”

Also, Rohit deserves kudos to have achieved the impossible — getting Ajay to flaunt his rippling muscles for the first time. “I had only suggested the  look and he was willing to go the extra mile. Yes, I’ve made him go topless without inhibitions,” Rohit claims.

Having being born into a filmi family, Rohit’s survived on a healthy dose of Bollywood. “I’ve always wanted to do an action film — it’s important to cater to single screen audiences as much as to a multiplex-going crowd and Singham is a dream come true. In fact, if not a film-maker, I’d have been a stunt man or a stunt director. Or else, how would one explain, flying cars and crazy stunts in a comedy like Golmaal — it was me venting all the pent frustration,” he signs off.
