Singer Kavita Sheth to sing Sufi composition at Commonwealth Games

She was last seen humming Iktara (Wake Up Sid) on the big screen. Now, singer Kavita Sheth will be singing a Sufi composition on the opening day of the Commonwealth Games which is scheduled to open in New Delhi in October.

“I have penned the lyrics myself. It is a great opportunity for me and I  have waited for this platform for so long now,” says the singer.

So, is she aware of the humongous amount of controversies that the Commonwealth Games have been facing? “I am very well aware of the controversies but I feel that it’s time that we move on from there and concentrated on the games itself. It’s a big event for our country and I feel that we should not keep on harping on the same string when the games are going to begin a few days from now,” she adds.

The singer says that she has been preparing for the past six months for the inauguration ceremony that will see her taking the stage after a couple of opening performances.

“It’s an elaborate process of penning the songs, rehearsing and ensuring it that it goes with the central theme of the games. Though I am not nervous about it I might have a few butterflies in my stomach for sure. At the same time, I am confident about myself,” the singer adds.
