Radio Jockey-turned-television anchor Siddharth Kannan recently lost three designer watches worth rupees five lakhs. Siddharth was on the sets of ‘Santa Banta’ (Zoom) when the theft occurred. Siddharth narrates, “I had kept my watches in a bag in my make-up room. My help boy was there. But when he saw celebrities on the sets, he got excited and stepped out of the room. Soon I realised that the watches were gone.”

Siddharth continues, “I didn’t want to make a big issue of it. I didn’t want the other staff to go through  questioning for the sake of the one who had stolen them. After all, they were my watches and hence my responsibility.” He adds, “But I felt bad about losing them because one of them was gifted by my mother. It was actually since then, that I developed a hobby of collecting watches.”

Siddharth shares that he is a watch freak. He says, “I have 49 watches belonging to 14 different brands. I hate repeating my watches. That’s why, I carry a few whilst shooting. I have watches belonging to different decades. The way women match  shoes and bags with their clothes, I wear watches to suit my attire.”

Apart from anchoring, Siddharth is also getting into television production. He is co-producing three shows with film producer Vicky Tejwani (of ‘Shaadi Ka Laddoo’). Siddharth says, “The pilots have been approved. The contracts are being finalised.”

Siddharth is also setting up an institute to groom aspirants for a career in radio. “I am setting it up with Rahul Agarwal (producer of ‘Biggest Loser’, Sahara One) who already has eight institutes in Delhi,” he says asserting, “It is important to branch out to grow.”
