Shruti Haasan steering back to Bollywood

Ever since actress Shruti Haasan’s made her debut as an actor, she’s been seen more on the South screens than seen making Bollywood big screen outings.

And though happy with the pace of her work down South, the actor admits that she now hopes to get more serious about her work here as well. “I have not been giving Bollywood step-treatment,” says Shruti, dismissing all talks of making her career down South, her only focus.

“It’s just that the kind of roles that came in succession down there appealed to me more than the films that I was getting here. So, I just happened to gravitate more towards South than Bollywood. But now I’m getting some really interesting scripts, so I’m steering my work-ship back here now,” adds the actor-cum-singer, who sees her film 3’s dubbed version being released in Hindi as a step inwards again.

The hit Kolaveri Di of the film, she may not have gotten to sing to, but she doesn’t deny possibility of her pairing up with her 3 co-star-turned-singer Dhanush again for music or films. “I see a lot of my dad’s (actor Kamal Haasan) traits as an actor in Dhanush and it was amazing working with him. So, of course I’d love to work with him again,” she says. Having worked so closely with superstar Rajinikanth’s family, would she want to work with him as well? “Well, I’d like to work with my dad first!” she quips.

“He only goes by merit, so I hope he casts me in one of his films, that would be a big achievement for me.” What about working in a remake of his film here? “To be honest, I would prefer not working in any of his remakes. Then comparisons are inevitable,” she says, adding, “But I am game to work in my own remakes here.”
Ready for more work here would mean more juggling between films here with films in South as well as her music career…

“That’s partly why I am single,” she smiles. We prod her further and she says, “You know I have seen a lot of people get in and out of relationships around me, I think that has somewhat matured me a little faster than others when it comes to love and life.”

As for her take on love she says that ‘when you are in love, you really need to take time out for that person, and not take that person or relationship for granted’. “So, neither do I have that kind of time right now, nor have I found anyone I want to take time out for,” she smiles.
