Shilpa Shetty excited about mom's new film

The actress may have taken a backseat from most of her projects because of her pregnancy, but she’s making an exception for her mom’s film

Shilpa Shetty excited about mom's new film

Actress Shilpa Shetty Kundra is taking a break from her hectic schedules to enjoy her pregnancy. But when it comes to projects that are close to her heart, Shilpa still doesn't mind going that extra mile.

A source close to the actor reveals that the actor is making extra-effort to promote her mom Sunanda Shetty’s film, The Desire — A Journey of a Woman. The film sees Shilpa in a girl-next-door avatar and in some portions of the film, the actor is even bald.

"Shilpa was very gung-ho about the film which is why she even agreed to sport a bald look. But she knows that since it's not exactly a mainstream film, a lot needs to be done to keep the curiosity about the film alive. Shilpa is currently taking a break from active participation in almost all of her and her husband Raj Kundra's business ventures. She had openly said that she won't be that active in her husband's cricket franchise or the new sports league he started in association with actor Sanjay Dutt. But this film is obviously too close to her which is why she is doing whatever she can for it," says the source.

The fact that it is her mom’s film explains why the actor is so attached to the project and is taking a personal interest in the film even at this advanced stage of her pregnancy.

"Shilpa and her mom are talking to each other more frequently now, because of Shilpa's pregnancy. The topic invariably halts at the film and about the curiosity it generated at the film festivals, so the interest levels are still high between the two," says the source.

The film has apparently even been awarded the best narrative feature film at the Geneva Film Festival, was screened at the Boston International Film Festival and was the offical selection at the 2011 New York City International Film Festival.

The recent festival Shilpa's film has apparently impressed is the London Film Festival, for which it is one of the four chosen films short-listed for the category of Best Crossover Film, Best Film Production awards and the Best Actress award. "Sunanda even travelled to London to attend the festival. Shilpa couldn't go but Sunanda kept updating her about the response her film received at every stage and the actor was pleased," reveals the source.
