Shania Twain’s stalker sentenced to 3 years probation

Singer Shania Twain’s stalker has been placed on three years probation after being released from jail following completion of his time served.

Dr Giovanni Palumbo was also ordered to stay half a kilometre away from the singer and her family by Judge Richard Schneider, who sentenced him to time served, which in effect meant that he can be released after over seven months in jail.

Palumbo - who interrupted Shania’s testimony at his trial in September to declare he would plead guilty to criminal harassment - is forbidden from having any contact, direct or indirect, with the singer under the terms of his probation and was advised to continue his treatment.

Palumbo repeatedly interrupted the hearing and was seen muttering to himself, but when given the chance to speak he had ‘nothing to say’.

He interrupted when Dr Helen Ward testified to declare a psychiatric review, which found Palumbo to be suffering from bipolar disorder and narcissistic personality disorder.

“I’m not narcissistic, I agree you’re all superior to me,” Contactmusic quoted Palumbo as saying.

Palumbo was arrested in March after he was spotted in the crowd at an awards ceremony Twain was attending despite being forbidden from going within 500 yards of her.
