Shakira already amidst record label bidding war

Shakira has already landed in the midst of a bidding war among record labels as her contract with Epic expires.

The 34-year-old singer, who will soon become a free agent, is getting interest from a number of major labels, including Warner and Island Def Jam.

The ‘Hips Don’t Lie’ hitmaker, who has a 10-year touring deal with Live Nation valued up to $100 million, is expected to start discussions with record executives early next year.

“While there has been a lot interest from major labels, it is too early to start the formal discussions. Shakira and her team will sit down in the new year to discuss her options. Her deal with Live Nation continues, so her next move will be worked out in partnership with Live Nation,” the New York Post quoted a source as saying.

It is still uncertain whether the singer will sign again with record label Epic, whom she has delivered three albums under the contract, which is now headed by ‘the X factor’ judge LA Reid.
