Shah Rukh Khan a royal guest of Morocco

Actor Shah Rukh Khan is being treated as a state guest as he steps into Marrakech, Morocco to accept the tribute being paid to him at the eleventh Marrakech International Film Festival that’s being held from December 2 to 10, 2011. SRK is a royal guest of the His Majesty the King Mohammed VI and His Royal Highness the Prince Moulay Rachid.

DNA has the copy of the letter that has been dispatched by the festival authorities, where it has been spelt out that Shah Rukh is the first Indian to receive the honour.

“In past years the festival has paid tribute to Martin Scorsese, Emir Kusturica, Francis Ford Coppola, David Lynch, Ridley Scott, Oliver Stone, Amitabh Bachchan, Susan Sarandon, Claudia Cardinale, Youssef Chahine, Sean Connery, Harvey Keitel, James Caan, Alain Delon, Abbas Kiarostami, Abel Ferrara, Leonardo DiCaprio, Sigourney Weaver, Michelle Yeoh, Christopher Walken, Ben Kingsley,” lists out the invitation letter that has been sent to the actor.

The government has planned an elaborate arrangement for his welcome which might actually be an envy of even Hollywood stars. “Your tribute would unfold as follows: During a ceremony on stage, and after a short film retracing your career, a film personality of your choice would award you the Festival’s honorary trophy (L’Etoile d’Or),” the official letter read.

The actor too seemed rather excited about attending the film fest there and even tweeted about it. “Love the cold in london...golden sun carressing the face every now and then...feel like shooting a love story...en route Marrakesh,” tweeted the star.
