Gujarati play Saat Teri Ekvis (7x3=21) was a unique play. It comprised seven different monologues of 15 minutes each - a first-of-its-kind attempt in Gujarati theatre. Each monologue was written and directed by a different writer and director.

Now after its tremendous success, Manhar Gadhia, the producer of the play, is planning a sequel which will be titled Saat Choku Athyavis (7x4=28). Only this time instead of seven monologues, there will be seven duologues. Two actors will act in each duologue.
Like Saat Teri Ekvis, even here each duologue will be written and directed by different people.

Manhar says, “So far, 10 shows of Saat Teri Ekvis have been houseful. My team deserves total credit for the overwhelming response. I think this is the first time Gujarati theatre is witnessing a show like this – seven plays in one.” Saat Teri Ekvis will be staged at the Tejpal Hall on October 2.

Speaking about Saat Choku Athyavis, Manhar says, “The number of artists this time will be 28. There will be a separate team for each duologue comprising one writer, one director and two actors - so the name Saat Choku Athyavis.”

Gujarati theatre writers like Suresh Dalal, Anil Josh, Kajal Ozha Vaidya and Prakash Kapadia have confirmed to write scripts for different duologues. Krutika Desai and her husband Imtiaz Khan have expressed the desire to direct one duologue each of the play.
“Through Saat Teri Ekvis and Saat Choku Athyavis I have tried to provide a platform to emerging writers. Three ideas for the duologues are already in place – these stories are also fresh and new. One of the duologues will be about a dialogue between Lord Krishna and Mirabai. Lord Krishna and Mirabai have never met each other. But if they met what they would talk about – this duologue is a piece of imagination,” reveals Manhar.

Another story revolves around a guy who has never done anything wrong in his life and how a goon provokes the nice guy to kill him.

And the third one is a love story between a 19-year-old girl and a 21-year-old boy. This play is expected to be staged in November during Diwali.
