Our B-Towners are increasingly finding themselves being attracted to the field of sports as new lucrative business ventures. While actors Shah Rukh Khan, Preity Zinta, Salman Khan and even Shilpa Shetty already own cricket teams, Akshay Kumar is into hosting Karate tournaments. Now, the latest to join the bandwagon is actor Sanjay Dutt. Apparently, the actor has collaborated with Shilpa’s husband, businessman Raj Kundra, to start a one of its kind sports league that will feature mixed martial arts – a full contact combat sport.

Apparently at a recent event held by them jointly, they revealed that they are organising a mixed-martial arts league here. A source says, “Yes, Sanju and Raj have come up with this whole new interesting concept of a sports league. The league will involve wrestling, kick-boxing, karate, taekwondo and others. Kick-boxing, especially has a huge fan base in India. So they thought why not — it’s going to be an interesting event.”

Though they are yet to make any formal announcement about the business venture, the source informs us that the league will start in March this year. “They have zeroed in on March 11, for the league to start. The league will see the likes of international stars compete against home grown martial arts specialists, in a huge competition. They have an institution here where young enthusiasts are being trained for the league competition in March,” the source adds.

Kick-boxing is a popular fitness sport in India with celebrities like Shazahn Padamsee swearing by it. So the league is mainly to promote this fitness sport in India. Sanjay’s manager confirmed saying, “Yes, he is doing something like that. But I can’t give you any details.” Sanjay and Raj remained unavailable for comment.
