Salman Khan says I should get back to painting: Asin

Not many are aware that the vivacious actor Asin is a closet painter! But actor Salman Khan (an avid painter himself) knows of it and keeps egging her to devote some time to it.

Trained by Kaladharan (guru of Krishnamachari Bose), Asin had her first exhibition at the age of seven. “Painting took a backseat as I got busy with films. It was while shooting for London Dreams that Salman inspired me to start painting again. He reminded me to get back to painting again when I went to Kerala recently. He’s gifted me a portrait of my father, which was very nice,” she informs.

The actress is known to rely on Salman a great deal. “Salman’s not my mentor, he’s a great support. He also has a good heart and not just for me. I know that if I need anything I can call him,” she adds. he’s about to start shooting for her next film with him —a romantic film called Ready. “I’m looking forward to it as it’s such fun shooting with Salman.”  And she’s quick to add,  “And we do make a great pair!”      

For now, Asin’s hobbies are on the backburner. “I have two more films coming up in January and February so I kind of have my plate full, but as I’m a workaholic I’m enjoying it —sleep be damned and food be damned,” she laughs.

Recently she’s also bagged a plum, sought-after skincare campaign, and she’s uninterested in any ruffled feathers that might arise out of that.   

“I’m doing what I want and that is very satisfying,” she says. While recent news reports may do the unds wondering about her whereabouts, the actor who has been shooting in Sri Lanka and then for her Tamil film with South star Vijay, is unperturbed. “I’m very secure as a person and an actor and I don't blow a fuse. The rumours may go on, but honestly I laugh about them,” she says.                            

Does that leave any time for a personal social life? “I’m not seeing anyone and I’m happy right now…and there are no notions of how Mr Right should be either. I’m waiting to be surprised,” she giggles.
