Rs3-crore set for a TV serial!

Just like his films Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s debut TV show Saraswati Chandra is said to have an ostentatious set. At Rs 3 crore, it is the biggest and the most expensive set on television, says a source.  It is created by art director Jayant Deshmukh, who has designed the sets of films like Maqbool, Tere Naam and Raajneeti.

“A lot of detailing has gone into it. For example, a beautiful pond has been created within the haveli and the carvings on each of the pillars are handmade and hand painted,” says the source. A romantic story, it is about Kumud (Jennifer Winget) and Saraswati Chandra (Gautam Rode) and their different perspective on love. Since Kumud is based in Gujarat, Bhansali wanted to bring about the feel and flavour of the state through the sets.
