Rockstar to roadstar for Ranbir Kapoor

The actor is all set to apparently play a roadside thug in director Abhinav Kashyap’s next film.

Rockstar to roadstar for Ranbir Kapoor

Actor Ranbir Kapoor has managed to bag director Abhinav Kashyap’s (of Dabangg fame) second film. The Rockstar actor will apparently play a roadside thug or what we call in Mumbaiya dialect, a tapori in the film.

Putting all rumours to rest, Ranbir has bagged the film, which was apparently said to be first offered to superstar Shah Rukh Khan. Not long back there was a strong buzz in the industry that the debutant director quit Dabangg 2 for making his second film with SRK.

A source says, “Abhinav became an overnight star with the success of Dabangg, but the debutant director, however, wished to make his second film not with the sequel to the Salman Khan-starrer, but a project starring SRK instead. However, that did not materialise and now the buzz is that he has signed Ranbir for his second venture. Apparently the film will see the Kapoor scion in a hatke avatar. Ranbir, who has a metro-sexual image will apparently be seen portraying the character of a roadside thug in the film. For a change, he will be mouthing cuss words and will not be the boy-next-door but instead a goon.”

However, this isn’t really the first time that the actor has revealed his tapori side to the public. “In Chillar Party’s item song Tai tai phish, Ranbir had bowled everyone with his zesty song. Even though it was his first item song, one could hardly make out that this was the same guy who played a college kid in Wake Up Sid,” says the source adding that Abhinav must have been inspired to cast Ranbir as a tapori after seeing his song in this film itself.

“And if Abhinav could make Bandra boy Salman into Chulbul Pandey so effortlessly, then we guess it shouldn’t be difficult for him to turn Ranbir to play a street smart rowdy either,” adds the source.
