Rihanna putting music career on hold

Rihanna has revealed that she wants to take a sabbatical from music career so she can concentrate on launching herself as an actress.

The pop star makes her big screen debut in board game-based blockbuster Battleship alongside Liam Neeson and Alexander Skarsgard, playing a navy cadet who helps fight an alien invasion.

The ‘Umbrella’ hitmaker is due to perform at a number of music festivals over the summer, including an appearance at Wireless in London’s Hyde Park in July, but she hopes to subsequently wind up her concert commitments so she can focus on making more films.

“There are some festivals here and there throughout the year but I want to do some more films before I go back on tour,” the Daily Express quoted her as telling the Sydney Daily Telegraph.

The 24-year-old hasn’t decided on her next movie project, but she hopes to try out comedy before returning to action films.

“I don’t want to stick to one thing yet. I want to see where I excel. I want to try things - comedy and probably another action film,” she added.
