Reel life ka real 'pyaar' for television actors

With the onscreen love spilling offscreen, several TV jodis end up becoming couples in real-life too.

Reel life ka real 'pyaar' for television actors

If we ask what’s common between TV actors like Ankita Lokhande and Sushant Singh Rajput; Gurmeet Choudhary and Debina Bonnerjee; Karan Kundra and Kritika Kamra; Ravi Dubey and Sargun Mehta, or the earlier pairings Hiten Tejwani-Gauri Pradhan and Ram Kapoor-Gautami Gadgil, the answer is simple.

These are all reel-couples who today are couples in real life too. With their crackling chemistry, small screen’s reel life couples make their viewers fall in love with them. Many a times, these couples  end up falling in love  with each other for real too and become a hit jodi off-screen as well.

Actress Mahi Vij, who is now married to her once  onscreen love interest,  actor Jay Bhanushali, feels that they have better understanding of each other’s hectic lifestyle and schedules which mostly becomes an issue if the partner isn’t from the same field. “It’s true that when you work daily and regularly together, reel life couples do tend to end up becoming real too. Your partner understands you better as both know what it is to be working in a daily soap. There are no insecurities and the wavelength matches too,” says Mahi.

Actor Angad Hasija feels that spending all the time together on sets because of long shooting hours is one of the reasons. “Reel life couples often become real life as the close proximity creates a bond and they fall in love. It makes them understand each other better, especially the erratic shoot schedule and lifestyle of the TV industry. But then for some couples being from the same profession doesn’t work, as they talk about acting and shows all the time. There are ego hassles and differences too tend to crop up which may lead to marital woes. It takes two to tango actually,” says Angad.

TV producer Hemal Thakkar feels its a common phenomenon today.” Reel life couple becoming a couple in real life is common. As both are from the same profession, it surely helps to an extent,   as they understand the complications and hard work behind the scene. It’s definitely encouraging when either gives feedback  to improve their work as well as personality,” he adds.
