Real life drama for Sara Khan and Ali Merchant

TV actors Khan and Merchant’s wedding may have set the TRP ratings soaring, but there was enough drama happening off the sets too.

Real life drama for Sara Khan and Ali Merchant

TV actors Ali Merchant and Sara Khan tied the knot on Wednesday night on a reality TV show amidst rumours that they are already married. Witness to the wedding inside were Ali’s parents, Ashik Merchant and Salma and Sara’s uncle Irshad Khan.

However, the real action lay outside the house with all relatives giving different versions of the couple’s marital status and then changing it later on after quiet murmurs of ‘don’t talk about that’ being exchanged to-and-fro rather frantically.

According to Ali’s parents, the couple was not married, but had done a Shigaah, a Shia custom that allowed them to stay under the same roof. While Sara’s parents who are from Bhopal, were not present for the ceremony, were heard declaring to TV shows that the two were already married and that they didn’t want to be a part of this tamasha.

An insider adding fuel to this revealed that both sets of parents were miffed as they did not get a single penny out of a lucrative deal between the couple and the channel and hence are crying foul. Irshad Khan, Sara’s maternal uncle, refused to talk much about it, saying that since Sara’s grandmother expired recently, her parents were unable to attend the wedding. However, he revealed that after Sara’s comes out of the Bigg Boss house she will return home and go to her sasural, Ali’s home only after two years.

A source revealed, “Sara is the main bread-winner for the Khan’s which is why they are reluctant to let go of her.” On hearing this, a shocked Salma wanted to confront Irshad, but sensing media presence decided to let it go, saying it is Ali and Sara’s decision.

Whether it was for TRPs or love or just the money, the drama seemed like a win-win situation for all involved!
