Raveena Tandon happy item number from 'Bbuddah...' was axed

Actress Raveena Tandon may be disappointed that her song from the recently released Amitabh Bachchan-starrer didn’t make it to the final cut, but she’s putting up an optimistic front all right.

Sources say that the actress was indeed very excited about the song sequence but there was nothing she could do about its omission at the last minute.

But the optimist that she is, Tandon prefers to bask in the fact that the audience liked what they saw in promos. “The music video is being aired on the small screen and the promos are running too. So she’s garnered a fairly positive response. Plus, the song will be included in the DVD. So instead of mulling over its exclusion Tandon has decided to focus on these aspects,” says a source close to the actress.

Meanwhile, Tandon is busy panning her fashionista friends, especially the ones who advocate the use of fur in their wardrobe. “Cruelty towards animals irks Raveena to no extent! She loves animals and can’t bear to see them in pain. And to top it all, when she sees someone indulge in real fur accessories in the name of fashion, she hits the roof,” says a source.

Ask Tandon about it and she admits that people insensitive towards animals are like her biggest enemies.

“Wearing fur doesn’t really turn heads, if that is what the users think they are achieving — it makes stomachs churn,” says Tandon adding, “Animals are not our property for us to experiment on or wear! I’m dead against the use of fur in the fashion industry and in no way do I support the torture and murder of animals in the name of fashion.”

Sources say that the actor takes the pain to explain her point of view to her close friends if she sees them wear fur. “Sometimes people are just ignorant and change their opinion when they hear about the cruelty towards animals. So Raveena explains things to them and she’s helped quite a few fur enthusiasts switch to faux fur instead,” says the source.

Tandon adds, “Each year approximately 40 million animals are killed for their fur. How can anyone say that this is fashionable — it’s cruel and twisted fashion.”
