Now here’s a real good reason for actor Ranbir Kapoor to be kicked about. Apparently, the star has been approached by an international sports association to lend his name to one of their teams for the forthcoming season of the game.
This makes the actor, an avid football fan, the first Bollywood actor to have been approached by FIFA, which is the international governing body of football.
Apparently, as of now, the officials too haven’t specified what Ranbir’s exact role will be, as they are awaiting for Ranbir’s confirmation before they divulge any details about the deal for now, informs an insider. And though the actor was unavailable for confirmation, another source revealed that the young actor is indeed currently in talks with the international body.
“Nothing has been finalised yet,” says the source, but adds that Ranbir is obviously very honoured and elated at having been approached to be associated with the sport.
“Ranbir’s very excited about the offer, as it’s football, a sport that he really loves. But he has not finalised anything yet, as he doesn’t want to rush into any commitment without considering his own shoot schedules as well as figuring out in which capacity he will be required to be associated with the game.”
According to the source, Ranbir is keen to be more actively involved in the game, rather than just lend his name, so he is still contemplating the offer. But it won’t be easy juggling dates as Ranbir has an extremely tight schedule and he’s been shooting back-to-back, first for Rockstar and then he begins work on Anurag Basu’s Silence soon after.
Apparently, the actor who was zeroed in for his youth connect and international appeal, is keen to be a part of the sports since his fascination for the sport goes back to his school days.
“In fact, one of his childhood dream was to be a football coach and he himself is a fabulous football player.” As for the star’s own favourites, the source says that he’s a die-hard Barcelona supporter, while his favourite football player is Lionel Messi.
