Rajat Kapoor’s getting choosy

The actor says that film-making, and not acting is where his passion lies.

Rajat Kapoor’s getting choosy

Film-maker Rajat Kapoor will soon be seen back on the silver screen in a film starring actress Neha Dhupia among others. After having worked with the pretty actor on quite a few films in the past, Rajat refutes stories about Neha’s supposed tantrums on the sets, saying that she is a thorough professional and a delight to work with. “Neha is very professional. Plus, she is great fun to work with,” says Rajat who has previously directed Neha in Mithiya and worked with her in films like Dasvidaniya and Raat Gayi, Baat Gayi to name a few.

Rajat plays an NRI in his new film, who goes bankrupt because of the recession. “He then comes to India to sell some property and get back on track but life has other plans in store for him,” says Rajat explaining his role.

The title of the film prompts us to ask Rajat, if he hopes that US President Barack Obama would watch the film? “I don’t wish that Obama sees our film, just because his name is in the title. There’s nothing in it for him at all,” he exclaims.

Rajat, at times is seen playing strong character roles and at the time the actor has been seen playing mundane roles like the heroines dad in certain films.

Ask him what is his strategy and he says, “I would not agree. I don’t accept meaningless roles at all. But yes, the few times that I have been seen in blink-and-you-miss roles is because I couldn’t refuse my film-maker friends’ request.”

Rajat adds that if the role is not good enough, he does not hesitate in refusing films outright. “I turn down 90 per cent of the offers that come my way,” says Rajat explaining how choosy he is these days.

“I never wanted to be an actor. My passion is film-making, so I try to use my discretion when it comes to accepting roles,” ends the actor.
