Radhika Pandit is happy with where she is

Radhika Pandit is one happy actor. With three back-to-back awards for best actress in her kitty, all sorts of projects and events lined up for the year and the next, she doesn’t have much room for complaint.

Interacting with the media at the recently-held Gillette Salutes The Soldier In You event, she told After Hrs, “I have four projects lined up, Alemaari, Breaking News, Sagar and Addhoori, all slated for release in the coming year,” adding, “Each role has given me a new and different character to portray.”

Conflicting characters with every film; does it get difficult to handle them? “No, in fact, it’s great to be able to lead different lives,” says Radhika, adding, “In Alemaari, I play Neeli, a simple motherless middle-class girl: silent, subdued and an introvert, while in Breaking News, it’s the complete opposite; I play a character called Shraddha, a rich spoilt brat, full of tantrums and drama.”
Radhika started her career with television, in serials like Nandagokula and Sumangali after which she debuted in her award-winning role in the 2008 film Moggina Manasu. What was the transition like? “There is no difference between television and films really. At the end of the day, you have to perform in front of the camera.” But, a film reaches a larger audience, and that’s where the transition lies says Radhika, adding, “It has been a great transition from one medium to the other. It’s good to keep trying new things.”

Promoting a venture that supports soldiers in need, Radhika says, “I think this venture focuses not so much on actual men in uniform as it does on the soldiers in each of us. I would any day want a man who has qualities like courage, integrity and confidence, all the qualities that our soldiers exhibit.”

Looking forward, Radhika says she’s glad to be doing what she’s doing. “I am very happy with where I am,” she signs off.
