Preity Zinta turns producer

After actresses Dia Mirza, Lara Dutta and Ameesha Patel, it’s now time for  Preity Zinta to turn filmmaker. Sources close to the actor confirmed that Preity is ready with her production house and will be producing two films initially.

A close friend of the actress also confirmed, “The plans have been finalised now.  She’s in talks to produce two films and will be acting in one of them. She is having numerous meetings and story sitting sessions and is hunting for more scripts right now,” says the friend.

Sources also say that the first film that will be off the block will be a collaboration project with filmmaker Prem Soni. Preity did a guest appearance for his last film in an item song.

“Prem Soni and Preity recently met and Prem narrated the script (which is tentatively titled Paris). Preity also evinced interest in playing the female lead of the film and Prem readily accepted the offer. The hero of the film has not been decided yet,” the source adds. Preity’s second film is also been locked in while the star-cast is yet to be decided.

“Preity has been toying with the idea of opening a production house for a long time. Long before Ameesha and Dia thought of doing it. But because she was so busy with her TV assignments, she didn’t get a chance to take it further. Right now, the sole focus of her attention will shift to her production company,” the source adds, maintaining that she will still be committed to her cricket team when the games season begin again.

However, this doesn’t mean that Preity is going to cut down on her acting assignments. “She’s open to everything that she’s been doing so far. The production house will only do one or two films a year depending on exigencies. Preity will continue to work the way she’s been working and is eager to sign a good movie soon,” the source ends.
