Prateik Babbar has decided to turn singer

Actor Prateik (he doesn’t use the surname Babbar) has decided to turn singer. Though actors Smita Patil and Raj Babbar’s son won’t be doing playback immediately, sources say that he had a meeting with his producers of his upcoming film where he expressed his desire to sing.

“Prateik had a meeting with senior officials of UTV Motion Pictures where it was decided that Prateik would be given an opportunity to sing for the promotion of his upcoming film. There will be two numbers that he will rehearse and sing at the promotional events of the film,” says a source.

Prateik had already sung at informal gatherings and at karaoke consoles and he said that he is confident that he will be able to carry it off.

“Prateik was confident that he had the voice to sing a full-fledged track. We did consult our music directors and since it is already the trend to make the actors sing in their own films, we decided to go ahead with the idea. Prateik has been asked to start recording the track to determine how good he sounds before the mike,” says a member of the production house.

Sources also say that this is actually a test run for Prateik to do playback for a track for one his forthcoming films. “He wants to figure out how he is as a singer and if all goes well, he will definitely sing in one of his films,” the source adds.

He will be singing at the promotional events at a mall when there will be a lot of his fans present. “He has never sung in public before. He is a little shy but since it is a film promotion tool and he is the solo hero of the film, we haven’t left him with much options,” laughs the member of the production team.
